9/8/06 - Val Murrell, general manager of Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La. said:

Clear Creek Stud will add millionaire grade I winner Lion Tamer to their roster for the 2007 breeding season. "We're anxious to get him down here, and get him going," Murrell said. "He's a great horse and should draw a lot of attention to Louisiana breeding."

8/16/06 - Tom Early Secretary – Treasurer of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association said:

LION TAMER is a welcome addition to the stallion ranks of Louisiana. To my knowledge he is the first Grade I millionaire to retire to stud here and should be very well received by the mare owners in Louisiana.”

11/27/04 - JOSE SANTOS after the CIGAR MILE - G1 in which Lion Tamer was taken wide by jockey Jose Santos and made a huge back-to-front move that carried him to the victory in 1:33 2/5:

"I told a bunch of the valets that this race set up perfectly for this horse," Santos said. "He likes Aqueduct. His way is coming around horses and he did that today. He ran a tremendous race."

TODD PLETCHER'S LION TAMER AUDIO TRANSCRIPT - recorded at Saratoga in front of the Pletcher barn, August, 2006.

“I think what made Lion Tamer such a successful race horse is he had the ability not only to … not only did he have speed, but he had the ability to carry it over a distance of ground.  He was effective from 6 furlongs to a mile and, to me, that’s what makes a great stallion prospect is miler speed.  So that was one of the things that made him a great race horse.

I would have to think that Lion Tamer’s best race was in the Cigar Mile.  He beat a star studded field in a Group 1 at Aqueduct and that race you know is at a mile distance is so important for a stallion prospect.

Lion Tamer conformationally is extremely correct.  He’s got terrific front legs, very good hind legs, good hind quarters and deep heart girth.  He’s a medium size horse but very elegant head, great neck and a sharp eye.”
